Service options & packages
I design websites that reflect simplicity and authenticity, and I build the same clarity and transparency into my design process too.
My process starts with a questionnaire to gather some basic ideas of the purpose, size, scope and design you envision for your website. I offer a free phone or email consult to see if we are a good match for each other, and a clear proposal and contract. On receipt of your deposit we’ll set a date and I’ll let you know what I need from you - your ‘homework’ - before the start date.
I keep you regularly updated on progress and there will be plenty of opportunity for review and revision of the site. On launch day I’ll hand over full access and ownership of the site to you, together with training on how to update and make changes to it yourself. You’ll have the reassurance of 30 days free support from me to make sure you’re OK with everything.
For express builds, if you provide all the content I need, the basic site can be built in a couple of days; and I offer a training guide and discounted support hours if you need them.

FAQS
Didn’t find an answer to your question?

Probably. Unless you already have all the work you can handle, you most likely do want more clients and these days most people tend to look online before pulling out the yellow pages. Even if you have a full workload, your current clients may wish they could find your hours or contact details online, and a website gives you an easy way to announce changes or specials.
-
You can, but you don’t own your content. Those hundreds of followers are gone if your platform changes or disappears. With your own website, you can build a mailing list with contacts that you can communicate with whenever you wish, not at the whim of a media magnate!
-
That depends on the purpose of your site. If you are a top-end web or graphic designer, for instance, then possibly yes. Your website is displaying your skills, so if your clients want highly customised, unique, attention-grabbing design, your site needs to demonstrate what you can do.
For most people, however, I would say that the usability of your site and depth of information given is of more importance than a wow-rated design. In fact, over-customisation and jaw-droppingly unique features can actually reduce the usability of the site. What good is a navigation menu if you can’t find it easily or it’s not obvious how to use it? Good tried-and-true design features are comfortable to look at and easy to use. Comfortable simplicity is often better than unfamiliar complexity!

Of course! Platforms like Squarespace make it fairly easy to get yourself online in a hurry. If you have a very low budget (like many start-ups!) or are still unsure that your idea will fly, I would suggest that starting with a Squarespace template and plugging in your own content could be a viable option. This is provided you have the skills to research and implement things like image optimisation, good SEO practices, or connecting your domain name, payment gateways or Google Search Console.
If techie stuff or SEO is all mumbo jumbo to you, I can help!

No, not unless you need major design changes. You can easily edit your content, update images, add images to galleries, add or update shop products and publish blog posts yourself. Squarespace is one of the most user-friendly and intuitive website builders out there, and depending on how much you want to learn, you can also easily change colours, fonts, add pages or sections and take over the whole look of the site yourself. I’m always available on an hourly rate for advice or design and technical help.
