Technical and design help

I’m available for help by the hour. This can be a cost-effective option for small updates, design advice, training, or technical help. You can also book scheduled hours on a regular basis (eg every 2 or 3 months) for checks and updates.

Maybe you are a blogger or podcaster but don’t want the hassle of posting every week? Send me your content and I’ll do the work. Or if you’re a DIYer and want to build your own site, use my hourly rates as back-up support if you run into trouble somewhere or just need some objective input.

Photography

I also offer basic photography to compliment your site design. Images from a professional shoot are the ideal, but if you can’t afford that and don’t have the skills to DIY, I may be able to help. I’ll come to your business (within two hours of my home) and together we’ll frame the photos that best showcase you, your business, and your products or services. Alternatively you can send me samples of your products for a photo shoot. (Please bear in mind that I am not a professional photographer and I charge by the hour for my time.)

Another option is extensive stock photo searches to find just the right image. The work involved in a careful search for suitable images is tremendous - it’s a very time-consuming job! Image searches outside of the package inclusions are priced at $30 per image plus the cost of the image itself (usually $9-$50 depending on size, source, and quality required).

Editing and re-writing

Simple editing and rewriting occurs naturally as part of your website build and is included in the package cost. However, if major editing is required I will return the copy to you for rewriting, or you can take advantage of my editing skills at my standard hourly rate to bring your content up to scratch. I’ll edit and rework it if necessary to best reflect the essence of your business vision and the design constraints of your site.

Sometimes more or fewer words fit best with the design aesthetic, and copy needs to be expanded or condensed to suit. Or we may need to split your content into more sections for readability. And of course all website content needs to be carefully edited for accuracy in spelling, grammar and syntax. Nothing turns potential customers away faster than unprofessional copy on your site!
