About Me

Hello!

I’m Ngaire, and probably the first thing you need to know about me is how to pronounce my name. It’s Nirey (rhyming with diary) - a Maori name meaning “little ray of sunshine’. I’m an Aussie though, with no ties to New Zealand at all apart from my unique name!

Perhaps my name is why I love sunshine so much. Sunlight and breezes, wide open spaces and big skies, the bush, the garden, music, tea, books and cats… these are a few of my favourite things.

 Some other things to know:

I have a wealth of experience living with design…

… because I’m older (& wiser?).

I’m an expert in detecting both excellent and rubbish design. I detest toasters with impossible to clean crevices, kettles that spit when poured, and washing machines that don’t allow custom cycles. It’s the appliances that are simple to use, easy to clean, AND delightful to look at that will win my dollars over the ones sporting the latest tech or celebrity name. And that’s the principle I use in my website design - simplicity, beauty and ease-of-use trumps the latest fancy gimmicks.

I’ve years of experience as a consumer, client, and website user. I know what customers want and need, and I know that if they don’t get it they’ll click away from your site within seconds, and your opportunity for a sale is lost. Your potential clients want all the information they need to make a decision at their fingertips, on first perusal of your site. They don’t want to hunt for it or have to contact you for prices.

So I create websites that work - and by that I mean websites that are attractive, easy to use, easy to maintain, and do what they need to do.

I guess I’m a creative pragmatist.

I’m a local website design business…

… which means I’ll travel to your business and collaborate in person.

I have a passion for helping locals - I want to see rural and small town communities thrive. That means getting local businesses online with well-designed, informative and attractive websites. And to fully understand how a business ticks I think it is important to visit in person. So, if you live within the Barrington Coast region, I’ll come to you and see what you do and how you work. I’ll get a feel for your passion, your drive, and your market and services.

If you live further afield, I may still be able to visit, just contact me to discuss possibilities.

I won’t build the website you want…

… I’ll build the one your customers need.

I design the site your customers are hoping to find - somewhere they will feel at home, where they can get to know you and your service or product. A website that invites exploration, encourages action, and gives your customers the information they’re looking for.

It is true that your website should reflect who you are, but it is even more important that your site be attractive to your ideal client. Together we will work out where your market lies and I’ll guide you to a design that suits your audience while reflecting your personality, is easy to use, and quietly promotes you and your unique services.

I don’t do marketing gimmicks - no fake FOMO-inducing tactics, countdown timers, sales funnels, overblown promises or guilt-tripping. My view is that your product or service should be good enough to sell itself to your ideal client if they have all the necessary information at their fingertips. Of course I will use every best practice to get your site the highest search engine ranking possible (including AIO), time-tested design principles to guide your visitors and clarify your offerings, the best UI/UX architecture, and generally do everything I can to showcase your work and appeal to your market. But I firmly believe the choice to buy isn’t something to be manipulated. To attempt to do so seems somehow disrespectful, and even pointless when what we really want is to invite people to become valued and loyal clients.

** Don’t recognise the acronyms? FOMO = fear of missing out; AIO = Artificial Intelligence Optimisation; UI/UX = user interface/user experience
